Why Do Parents Give the “Silent Treatment”?
Question by Scorpi0n: Why do parents give the “silent treatment”?
I didn’t come home last night, so my mom is giving me the complete “silent treatment.” I don’t wreak of alcohol, yet she assumes the worst regardless.
Which, granted, she’s right — but it kind of hurts to know she expects it. It’s like, it doesn’t matter how many times you mess up, because you’ll never be forgiven of any of it anyway. The thought never leaves their mind.
Anyway, psychologically speaking, I don’t see how it’s appropriate. It just upsets me. I’d rather be grounded or something even, if it meant being acknowledged. I hate this.
