I think somebody ought to tell Obama and Bernanke about what happened in the Forgotten Depression. The way to bring about economic recovery is for Obama to stop spending and attempting extravagant schemes and for Bernanke to turn off the Helicopter Printing Press.

If the government would just stop their reckless policies and allow the economy to recovery, we would soon see a recovery. If they wish to speed up recovery, they can always cut taxes and (especially important) cut spending (and I mean CUT spending, not increase it at a slightly slower rate next year). If Obama is looking for things to cut, I’d recommend he look at some government programs that the progressives don’t like (for example, the War on Drugs and the overseas military entanglements), to make cuts more acceptable to his own party. Of course, he should also abandon his plan to pass ObamaCare. We can’t afford that at the moment. Don’t sweat it too much, though, as the right will also have to give up some of their favorite government programs.

Obama’s “anti-depression” policies have failed. Isn’t it time to try the Harding Solution once again?
